The client is looking for an MEP Coordinator who is responsible for the coordination on the assigned project.
This position reports to the Director of Mechanical and Electrical Services or another assigned supervisor.
MEP Coordinators work with the design consultants and key sub-contractors to select the best equipment for the project, build it virtually and then in reality in the field, followed by a robust commissioning effort. The client uses software tools such as Revizto, vPlanner, Procore, and Primavera to manage the work. They are looking to add leadership to their Kaiser Permanente San Jose project team to build a new replacement hospital and central plant. The team is co-located with the design team in Oakland into 2024, after which the project office will move to San Jose. - Reviews, interprets, and accurately evaluates the scope of work in the project documents
- Evaluates schedules and plans to determine when materials are to be procured and installed
- Provides updated procurement information on a weekly basis to the scheduler assigned to the project
- Creates spreadsheets for material, installation, and procurement logs, maintaining them weekly
- Facilitates 3D CAD coordination meetings and ensures information is processed in a timely and efficient manner to meet the schedule
- Enters RFIs into ProCore and tracks progress
- Prepares submittal packages for submission to the architect/engineer
- Prepares transmittals through ProCore
- Evaluates changes and subcontractor change order estimates relating to mechanical, plumbing, and fire suppression subcontractor work
- Verifies change order requests from subcontractors for accuracy and consistency
- Maintains working knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, and fire suppression codes, life safety codes, and local requirements
- Conducts daily job walks to ensure the accuracy and quality of mechanical, plumbing, and fire suppression system installations
- Follows and enforces the QA/QC program for mechanical, plumbing, and fire suppression systems
- Demonstrates technical knowledge of the construction industry and ability to use cost-estimating methods
- Applies knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the construction field
- Works under general supervision
- Develops and nurtures subcontractor/vendor relationships
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Construction Management) or relevant technical training is preferred. A combination of education and work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Strong written and oral communication and team skills
- Minimum of ten years of experience in the field or in a related area is preferred

- Creative and resourceful in completing tasks accurately under time constraints
- Intermediate knowledge of Windows Operating Systems
- Intermediate skill level with MS Excel 2000, MS Word 2000, MS Outlook, and Procore
Expected annual salary range: $120,000 – $150,000, depending on experience.
