Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and driven Lead Superintendent to oversee and manage all on-site construction activities for our projects in Mountain View, CA. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading construction teams, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. The Lead Superintendent will be responsible for coordinating with project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality construction projects that meet the company’s standards and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Oversight:
    • Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities from start to finish, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and schedules.
    • Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, suppliers, and site staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely project completion.
    • Conduct daily site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead, mentor, and manage on-site construction teams, including assistant superintendents, foremen, and laborers.
    • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and high standards of workmanship.
    • Provide clear direction and communicate project expectations to all team members.
  • Quality Control:
    • Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure high standards of construction.
    • Review and approve work performed by subcontractors and site staff, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
    • Address any issues or deficiencies promptly to maintain project quality.
  • Safety Management:
    • Enforce all safety protocols and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
    • Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions for site staff and subcontractors.
    • Investigate and report any safety incidents or accidents, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
  • Client and Stakeholder Communication:
    • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, project managers, and other stakeholders.
    • Provide regular updates on project progress, addressing any concerns or changes in scope.
    • Coordinate with project managers to ensure alignment with project goals and client expectations.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including daily logs, progress reports, and inspection records.
    • Report project status, issues, and progress to the project management team and senior management.
    • Assist in the preparation of project closeout documents and punch lists.
  • Problem Solving and Decision Making:
    • Identify and mitigate project risks and issues, implementing proactive strategies to avoid delays and cost overruns.
    • Make informed decisions to resolve conflicts and overcome challenges, ensuring successful project delivery.
    • Drive continuous improvement and implement innovative solutions to enhance project outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as a superintendent, with at least 2 years in a lead role overseeing large-scale construction projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction processes, methods, and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety regulations and standards.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, PlanGrid).
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Familiarity with local building codes and regulations in Mountain View, CA.
